WIP Wednesday

1 Jan

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a happy holiday season.  I love the holidays, but I am eager for life to get back to normal, because it has been anything but for the last 5 months.

I did TERRIBLY on my 100 Day Hustle list, so I am not even going to go there, but I did make progress on one unfinished quilt.

Here is the front of my Vintage Sheet Quilt. The blocks were made by the ladies of the Vintage Sheet Quilting Bee quilt a LONG time ago (right before Emma was born and she is now 19 months old). They used a tutorial by Aneela Hoey from Fat Quarterly and  I added the linen and striped sashing once I received all the blocks.

I decided to make the quilt double-sided with a patchwork back.  I’ve really been wanting to make a simple patchwork quilt.  It’s also is a great way to use up my vintage fat quarters, so they aren’t hiding in storage bins anymore.

It’s all basted and ready to quilt. I just need thread!

In the meantime, I was sucked into the Scrappy Trip Along madness that is happening amongst the quilters of Instagram right now.  It actually happened at a perfect time. because my next project was to use this Anna Maria Horner “Little Folks” bundle for a family room quilt:

I hadn’t decided what quilt pattern I wanted to use yet and I am LOVING this scrappy patchwork look!

You can find the tutorial for this quick quilt at Quiltville.com.

The quilt-along is still in full force and there are no due dates, nothing formal.  Just a bunch of crazy quilters sharing photos.  You can join in on instagram by using the hashtag #scrappytripalong, or on flickr by joining the group “Scrappy Trip Along“. There are already 261 members in just 3 days!  A huge thanks for Brenda of Pink Castle Fabrics for organizing the flickr group!

Hmmmm…I have seen the Scrappy Trip Along a few times today on blog land and I can feel myself being drawn in! Actually, I have a few jelly rolls that would be perfect for this. Your vintage quilt is absolutely beautiful!! I don’t think I’ve seen such lovely vintage sheet fabric.

I watched the tutorial and it’s brilliant! And what an awesome way to use up stash fabrics. This is on my To Do List, and I signed up for the Flickr Group.

The linen and tiny strips are the perfect touch to the vintage quilt. that scrappy trip is popping up everywhere – have fun, it looks great so far.

Hi, Janice!! I like your blog site. Your projects are awesome especially the TV test pattern quilt. 2013 is Crafty Will year (my new year resolution) I started knitting towards end of last year and finished a huge Dr Who scarf among other things. Just got a machine and started sewing with final goal of making costumes for ComicCons and such. So I’m glad someone I know has a blog I can refer to as I get started. 🙂 Take care. Go State!!
