WIP Wednesday

weekenderbag

I’ve been working on two projects this past week.  The first is Amy Butler’s Weekender Bag. I bought the pattern last year and finally decided to tackle it (it’s kind of a right of passage amongst modern quilters).  I still need to make the lining, and I’ll post about my experience with sewing the bag once I am done.

The fabric is Melody Miller’s “Ruby Star Sparkle” and the straps and cording are Michael Miller’s “Mirror Ball Dot”.

My second project is a Wonky House Log Cabin Quilt.  These were bee blocks from the very first round of Bee Happy, so all I did was sew the blocks together finally.

I love all the details in these blocks and there is a lot of eye candy for a fussy-cut addict, like me.  I want to add one more column of blocks, so I am going to have the newer Bee Happy ladies sew blocks when it is my month.  Then it will encompass every member of the group.

I sent everyone a coveted swatch of Heather Ross fabric and then strips from my stash. It was fun to see what everyone came up with.  I adore this funky Martian block by Natalie. I keep going back to look at it.

Alison’s block is very soothing and Zen.  I want to live in THAT house!

The tutorial for the Log Cabin House block is right here.  It’s such a fun bee block and a great stash-buster.

    Oh I want a Wonky House Quilt too! Sometimes I think I spend more time adding to my list of things I want to sew than actual sewing!! Love the bag (do you do roller derby in your spare time?).

    I’m jealous about your weekender bag! My sewing machine is being a beep and won’t sew through all the layers! I’ve come so close… 🙁

    Love! I bought the weekender pattern last year also and I also have some Tula Pink laminate to make mine, I am just too scared.. there’s no room for mess-ups in laminate and I keep hearing about how hard it is… I love the house quilt too!

    Roller-skating is also a popular sport, and it is even thought that it might soon be added to the Olympics. Skate-parks that have been designed to accommodate the resurgence of skateboarding can also be easily used for roller-skating, and skaters can pull off similar tricks and manoeuvres to skateboarders this way. Roller skate racing is also quite popular, with people competing to get from one side of an obstacle course to the other in the fastest time.;
