Friday Finishes

24 Aug

My finishes this week are actually all works in progress.  I’m finished with my part of the projects, though, so it still counts!

Here are two bee blocks I made for Melissa.  She is making a really fun rainbow Mod Mosaic Quilt.  She asked me to make a true blue and true green block.

My second finish was a quilt top for the nephew of my friend and bee partner, Yolanda.

Rockin Jelly Roll Quilt

I was sent a whole bunch of 2.5″ x 22″ strips, some 1.5″ strips and a couple of fat quarters.  I was told to do whatever I wanted and to have fun.  I’ve never made a jelly roll quilt before, so I did a lot of research and when I found the Rockin Roll Jelly Roll Quilt pattern, I knew it was the perfect fit (especially for a quilt with guitars on it!).

It was pretty fast and easy to put together and I think her nephew can continue to use this quilt as he gets older.

I love all the textured fabrics.

I also got happy mail this week!  I won a giveaway over at Alyce’s Blog (Blossom Heart Quilts) and she sent me a stack of transport fabric squares all the way from Japan!

Now I think I need to add another project to my list!  My son FLIPPED over the fabrics and I would love to get a quilt or playmat sewn up for his birthday in 12 days.  I don’t know if that will be possible with the move and all the other projects I need to finish before I pack up my sewing machine.  I can certainly try, for my little boy!

Love the colours in the mosaic blocks.
That is one happy bundle of fabrics, I’m not surprised your son got excited.
Good luck with the move. The huge fun that they always are. Not. 🙂

I love what you did with the Jelly Roll Quilt, it looks great. Having two nephews myself, I also tend to lean towards the boy quilts. 🙂

Your blocks are gorgeous and the quilt top looks awesome! Can’t wait to see the playmat, I can see why your son flipped over the fabrics :))
