Finished Baby Quilt!

23 Jun

I finally finished the baby quilt! I am really pleased with how it turned out.  The free-motion quilting was not as difficult as I thought it would be (once I got the hang of it) and sewing the applique on was a breeze.

The back of the quilt is pale blue Minky Dot and it is SOOOOOO soft!  I highly suggest purchasing the genuine Minky brand, because it is much softer that the type that Jo-Ann’s carries.  I also read that it will hold up better in the wash, which is necessary with baby items.

Here are photos of the finished product:

So cute! LOVE the giraffe. I’m gearing up to do my first free-motion quilting, too. I’m nervous, but practicing on some doll quilts first before jumping in on a baby quilt. Thanks for the inspiration!

how did you attach the minky onto the back of the quilt. Oh Fransson’s new baby pattern does not include this instruction. I sent her an e-mail about a month ago for the information and she has not yet responded. I have this nice minky and a quilt that has to be completed in a few weeks for a baby shower. Can you help me out?

Hi I am so in love with this quilt I have been trying to find the pattern and have been unsuccessful. That site you mentioned seems to not be working anymore. Is there anyway you could let me know the pattern or just the size of the squares? Thank you!

hi, I’m also confused about how you put on the minky backing. Usually I baste my quilt top, batting, backing together and quilt all together. yours I can’t tell if it’s basted together or if you quilted the top and batting and then put the backing on?
    thanks
