New Craftsy Pattern: Round The Blocks

22 Aug

cover copy

I just released a new set of blocks on Craftsy and I am really excited about them!  They are called “Round the Blocks” and there are two 14.5″ versions.  Version A is 10 squares in a circle and Version B is 14.  You can also choose to make your background from one piece of fabric, or scrappy.

The pattern comes with all the paper-piecing templates you will need, plus a full tutorial on paper-piecing and setting in full circles.  They go together quite easily and I love figuring out new combinations of fabrics to create new looks.

Heidi at Fabric Mutt did a pattern test for me and she made an amazing Storytelling pillow.   I originally saw this idea at Plum and June last year and it is such a great gift idea (note to self:make one for Emmeline for Christmas).

I made a sample and it was so much fun, that I just kept going!

I have plans (in ALL my free time..ha,ha) to make a full quilt, but I’m still trying to decide what I want it to look like.  I may keep going with the Briar Rose and make a bed quilt for Emmeline.

I also think it would be fun to make a bold quilt where each block is unique:

(I sampled colors from Koi by Rashida Coleman-Hale for this mock-up)

and of course, I always love a rainbow quilt:

I like the sampler style mock up. takes some looking to see that they are all the same pattern.

This is super cute. You should call it viewmaster, that is what it reminds me of… It would really look like a viewmaster with a little animal or person fussy cut into each square. I follow quite a few quilting and sewing blogs daily and it takes something really cool and different to catch my eye. This is AMAZING!!!!!!!

I love this block! To me it looks like a minimal or maybe a “floating” twist on that ubiquitous Single Girl. A very, very smart block with a lot of possibilities! (Can you also make my WIPs go away so I can make a whole quilt, right now? 😉 )

Oh my gosh, Janice, I love that bold quilt option with all the different types of blocks! Wouldn’t that look amazing in Koi?!

I would love your pattern but Craftsy only allows payment via PayPal, which I no longer use. Do you by chance have an Etsy store that takes credit cards?
