I’ve been so busy sewing lately that I’ve had zero time to blog. I’m trying not to feel guilty about it (but I still do). I blog because I sew, I don’t sew so I can blog. I do love sharing everything with my readers and also reading what everyone else is making. I need a couple more hours in the day!

On Saturday I taught a Paper-piecing class at Sew Modern and it was so much fun! I was really impressed with my students. They did an amazing job both with paper-piecing and with sewing curves.
I’ll be teaching a class at Sew Modern in May on how to sew the Oliver + S Family Reunion Dress. It’s such an adorable little dress with pin-tucks, a placket and an extra-wide faced hem. The fabric for the sample I made (above) is from Marisa and Creative Thursday’s “Locally Grown” line and it is so sweet.
The other week, I made Figgy’s Scirocco Dress Pattern for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. I loved it so much that I decided to whip up an Easter dress for Emma from some fabric I had in my stash.
The fabric is Rick-Rack Rabbits by Marisa and Creative Thursday (again!). The Scirocco pattern is pretty easy and the fit is good. I made a 2T/3T and tacked the shoulders up a bit (Emma is 22 months). I can let them down as she grows.
The open, twisted back is so unique and perfect for summer.
The costume designer side of me loves that the ruffles look like a little bustle in the back.
I also made this top/dress for Emma using the Geranium Dress pattern by Made By Rae. I am SO in love with this pattern. There are several different sleeve/neckline/skirt combinations you can choose from and it sews up extremely quickly.
I only had 3/4 yard of this Amy Wisbrun “Don’t Be Crabby” fabric, so I made a shorter dress, but it’ll be perfect with leggings or ruffled bloomers (gotta get sewing!). I skipped buttonholes and just used resin snaps I had leftover from when I made cloth diapers.
Emma received several complements at the zoo on Saturday!
He has been asking me to make him PJ pants for quite awhile, so I whipped these up tonight in about 30 minutes. He wanted me to use the leftover backing fabric from his Transportation Quilt. I used the Basic Pant pattern from Dana Made It, which is a free download. The fit was nice and slim, for my tall, skinny guy, but I may add a little to the sides, so he can wear them longer. The pattern is only one size (2-3.5T) and he is 3.5. Dana also has a tutorial on how to make your own PJ pattern. Liam and I have a date to go to the fabric store and pick out some other fabrics.
That’s it for now (whew!). Time to get back to sewing!

100% adorable! I always hated tights as a girl, so I put my daughter in leggings or shorts under dresses all the time.

I have started trying my hand at making clothes for my kids, too. I am in the process of turning a bunch of my husband’s cast off shirts into T-shirts for my boys with Dana’s basic t-shirt pattern. I’m really hoping it is as easy as it looks! I love your reunion dress -it”s just darling and the fabric is fantastic!

You’re making me want to bust out the sewing machine to sew clothes for Fiona! Maybe when she’s a little older and grows a little slower. 🙂
