Wonky Star Block

13 Oct

Can you believe that I sewed?!  I certainly can’t!  We are getting all settled into our new/old house.  The boxes are half unpacked, and the sewing machine, of course, was one of the first items to be un-boxed (after the kid’s room and kitchen).  The kids are also doing amazingly well with sharing a room.  They’ve been taking 2.5 hour naps each day, which gives me some time to play.

Natalie asked us for a wonky star block for Bee Happy.  It’s for a gift, so I needed to get on it!  We could do anything we wanted with her fabric, as long as it was a wonky star (or stars) and 18″.

Wonky Star Block

This design popped into my head right before falling asleep (isn’t that how it always is?) and when I couldn’t find an existing pattern, I drew one up on photoshop.

  Wonky Star Block

I think it would make a great pillow and I need a couple new ones, so I may do a little tutorial/pattern for it, if anyone is interested.  If you’ve seen a pattern for this block before, tell me and I won’t bother!

I’m linking up today with TGIFF over at Quilt Matters this week.  Stop on by!

That’s very cute! I’d love to see a tutorial. Anything “wonky” is always a challenge for me.

I saw the pattern and thought baby quilt. Oh the quilting options with a larger size. Heck with the pillow!

Halloween brought out the only stars for me too. These orange fabrics really make your stars dance. Nice job.

    Wonky. Spellcheck/autocorrect kills me.

Would love a tutorial! I am interested in putting the smallest star shown here, in the center of the biggest star shown here! So info on how to do both, like a tutorial, would be wonderful, if you are still playing with this design!

    Thanks for all this!

    Nancy…
