Kelly sent an A-MAZ-ING stack of fabrics to me for her “Bee Happy” month. She asked each of us to make one 18″ improv block. We could do anything at all. ANYTHING!
I had seen this tutorial by “Six White Horses” awhile ago and thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. I have to say that I LOVE THIS BLOCK. It is really fun to make and chevrons are so pretty.
My only irritation is that I should have made the bottom chevron more centered. The chevron effect is going to be lost in the seam allowance. I made sure I moved the points in more when I did the top chevron. When you make this block, learn from my mistake!
I’m linking up with “Plum and June” today. Stop on by. She is also having a great giveaway sponsored by Christa Quilts!

Love the colours – reminds me of our 70s decor. I love retro! I see what you mean about getting the chevrons lined up in a perfect world but really it is very striking just how it is. Lovely work!

I’ve been thinking about that Chevron block, but it sure looks like it takes a lot of fabric! No more than any other, I’m sure, but for some reason it seems like it would, LOL!
I love the colors you chose!

As soon as you said “Kelly sent…” and I saw the colors, I knew who you were talking about! At our guild meeting (Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild) last week, she mentioned how much she LOVES Kona Curry and that influence is apparent in this fabric selection. I think she’s going to love your block.
