Did I scare you yet? No, no, I promise I’m not doing Christmas projects yet (though Michael’s seems to think I SHOULD be). I am simply VERY delinquent on my blog posts. I whipped up these bad boys about 2 days before Christmas, when I realized that my children were going to have to use the cats’ old Christmas stocking again.
I am a sucker for fabric with cute little images that I can fussy cut (fussy cut is a sewing term for cutting fabric so that a particular part of the printed design is featured.) The second I saw a stocking Aneela Hoey had made, I knew it was THE ONE. You can find a tutorial here.
I dipped into my precious (and now nonexistent) stash of Heather Ross Munki-Munki scraps, Aneela Hoey’s “Sherbet Pips” and a few other random Christmas fabrics I had. I love this one from Ariel Eldridge for Sew Deerly Loved:
My husband and I already had stockings (Target-made…we don’t get special treatment like the kids), so I used those as a template and added a cuff to the top.
In progress:
Just in time for Christmas! Whew!
If you want to make your own stocking with a cuff check out the Christmas Stocking Tutorial at Fabricworm.
Merry…uh…Pecan Pie Day!
