The Speedy Zip Dress + a giveaway!

Miss Emmeline turned three last week and two days before her birthday I mentioned that I wanted to find time to make her a new kitty dress.  My friend, Ramona, was kind enough to share her new Speedy Zip Dress pattern with me and the result was adorable and super fast!

I used a cat print from Aneela Hooey’s Hello Petal fabric line, dark pink pockets and navy binding.

Ramona’s pattern was very easy and the fit was perfect.  I am in love with those little pleats at the neck and Emmeline adores the pockets.  I have to say I am rather jealous and I want one in my size, (though I don’t think it would look quite the same!).  I think I will be making a zillion of these dresses in every color and print.

Ramona is so awesome and has offered to give away a PDF pattern to one of my readers!  You may choose from the Speedy Zip Dress, or the PE Playdress, which is the knit version of the dress (I can’t wait to try that!).  Just leave me a comment (maybe tell me who you’ll make the dress for or what fabric you would use).  I’ll pick a winner next week!  The contest will close Wednesday, June 4th at 11:59 Pacific Time.

If you can’t wait to see if you won, you can check out the Speedy Zip Dress in Ramona’s pattern shop.

  2. I did take a trip to Ramona’s site. Her patterns are great. She Makes exactly what a little girl
needs. Simple, modern, easy to move it, Wonderful!
I would love to make one for my daughter. As a beginner her pattern is perfect.

    Hope to hear from you.

  3. This is darling! I’d make it for my grandgirl, who is also 3. I’m curious – did you use 100% cotton (quilter’s cotton) for all the elements of this dress??

    1. Thanks Debbie! Yes, Everything is woven cotton (quilter’s cotton). You can purchase pre-made binding, but I made it so I wouldn’t have to drive to the store!

  4. Adorable! I would make this dress for my five year old twins. I have been hoarding some Little Red Riding Hood fabric that would look great as this dress!

  5. So cute, i need a kitty dress for my granddaughter who is 1. she loves the kitties too. i would get some snoopy fabric too as i am trying to make sure she likes my favorite as well!

  6. This dress looks like something I would actually attempt making–quick and simple! I’m having a baby girl in a month or so, so that’s my #1 client. But I do have several nieces to practice on until then.

  7. Love the dress, I just want the pattern for future grand kids. I can’t imagine a better pattern for little girls. Cotton is so perfect in any print.

  8. You are right! This is an adorable pattern (and so is your daughter!). I would love to win the pattern and I’d make it for a little girl at church who loves everything I make for her. ..as I patiently wait for a grandchild.

  9. Your daughter looks adorably happy in her kitty dress! The name of the dress implies there’s a zipper, but you don’t mention one, and the pattern doesn’t give any detail, either. Is it an over-the -head dress?

  10. This pattern looks really easy and your daughter looks great in it. I’d love to make this pattern for a friend’s daughter and I have just the cutest cotton fabric in my stash (white background with yellow balloons and she’d be adorable in it). kthurn@bektel.com

  11. I’ve got a few girls around here who would love that dress!! Looks like a perfect summer play dress:)

  12. Love this dress! I would make it for my adorable granddaughter, and I think it’s about time I made something in her favorite color purple. It’s really hard to fine purple fabric locally. She’s pretty happy with anything I make for her, and so’s her Mama.

  13. I would love to make the PE dress for my daughter (hate zips but probably should try them more!). I have quite a bit of knit/jersey in my collection now. Some thrifted, some bought locally and some from a friend. I would let my opinated Miss 5 design her own!
