Kite Flight Finished!

I thought it was about time I started catching up on my finished projects. “Kite Flight” is currently cheering up my family room.

I used a Kona Classic’s roll-up and mixed in several text prints by Suzuko Koseki, Collage by Carrie Bloomston and Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander.

I did straight line quilting 1/2″ apart on my Juki. I found it easiest to quilt lines 2″ apart, and then quilt between those lines. ย The entire quilt is bias, so I think if I had quilted diagonally, I would have had less crinkling. Crinkle is good though, right?!

It measures 70″x 84″, perfect for cuddling under.

  1. I saw this pattern on Craftsy and love it but with 3 children, all CU Boulder students, I’ve been looking for the right pattern for various black and gold prints. How could I work that into this pattern?
Thanks so much for your time!

  2. I love straight line quilting and use a Juki too. Can I ask how you started initially with 2″ spacing? There doesn’t seem to be a way to use a guide bar with the Juki walking foot, unless I have entirely missed the boat on this one!

  3. Really like the colors. Pattern calls for skinny strips. Can I use a 2.5 jelly roll and get the same result. New quilter here.
