I have often been called a “super-cyber sleuth” by my friends and coworkers. If you need to find something, or someone online, I can do it. I love finding the best deal or a hard to find item. A few days ago, I realized I NEEDED (yes, needed) a dress to get me through the holiday season, but I am not brave enough to venture out to the mall on a weekend.
I must admit, I have a girl-crush on Diane von Furstenberg (well at least on her wrap dresses). I have one of her wool wrap dresses in black and although it was a large investment, it is the ultimate throw-it-on-and-go frock. I had been wanting one with sleeves and some color, when I found this; the Diane von Furstenberg Volante Wrap Dress:
I immediately fell in love and ached to have one of my very own, but after searching for an hour online I knew that aside from sewing it myself before next weekend the dress would not be mine. It is from last season and Saks had them on sale for $169, but are now sold out. The only ones available are on eBay for over $200. While this is a good deal for a Diane von Furstenberg dress, I have to be a good girl and save money, plus I like to have the option of sending it back if it doesn’t fit.
I did another search for wool wrap dresses and found this little gem from Banana Republic:
The orange is oh-so-yummy and it is almost a dead ringer for the DVF! It was on sale for $89 and with my 25% off coupon and free shipping I practically robbed the store by getting it for $67.50! Oh yes, did I forget to mention online coupon codes? Whenever you buy something online, ALWAYS google for coupons. I googled “Banana Republic coupons” and came up with a variety of codes. Some work, some don’t. It takes patience, but the pay-off (or pay-out, I should say), is totally worth it. Now I can have my cute, ruffly, wrap dress and wear it to my Christmas parties guilt free!
So, ladies, the moral of this Holiday Story is, that your fashion dreams CAN come true. Don’t ever give up, because Google is your friend!
