Bees, BOMs and other stuff

20 Mar

Have you seen the snazzy, new Modern Quilt Guild Website yet? If you haven’t, check it out.  You may even see a quilt you recognize in the gallery;)

Between family, sewing for work, sewing personal projects, and teaching classes, I haven’t had a ton of time to blog.  I love writing my blog and I know that at least my mom loves reading it (hi mom!).  I also really enjoy reading other quilting and sewing blogs and I feel guilty that I haven’t had much time to peruse and comment on everyone’s work.  The one thing I can fit in is Instagram, so if you are on there, please follow me and also leave your Instagram name in the comments and I’ll be sure to follow you.  I love seeing what everyone is working on and connecting with other quilters.  You can click the icon below or search for “betteroffthread”.

I am getting caught up on my Bee and Block of the Month projects.

logcabin

Katie asked for wonky log cabin blocks for Bee Happy.  I LOVE her fabric combinations.  It’s going to be such a happy, soothing quilt.

improv

She also asked for a smaller improv block for the back of the quilt.

stars
I managed to catch up on the Lucky Stars BOM hosted by Don’t Call Me Betsy.  I’m making the smaller 6.5″ blocks using Architextures by Carolyn Friedlander and Liberty Lifestyle.  They are so cute and little in person! I’m trying to be bold with the fabric choices and because they are paper-pieced, the outcome is a bit of a surprise each time.

ripperblock

This is the February block for the “And Sew On…” BOM hosted by Kristy at Quiet Play.  Kristy is the paper-piecing queen and this is going to be a really fun wall-hanging when the BOM is done.

Time to go get caught up on the rest of March, before it’s April!

They are all fabulous! I had to restrain myself from signing up to the Lucky Stars BOM (must just stick to my already full load of BOM and bee commitments!). I love, love, LOVE your And Sew On block for February. I must get a hustle on and do my March block too!

Love that star block (one that I have wanted to do for quite a while) and the “unsewer” is awesome!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! Great job!! It is hard to do the “blogging thing” sometimes. I’m in that place right now……6 quilt tops waiting to be sandwiched (QOV for my guild) and grandson’s grad. quilt top almost finished. Yikes!! Time is moving way too fast!!!!!!
