It’s that time of year again when all the poor souls who don’t get to go to International Quilt Market (that’s me!) participate in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival!
Amy hosts the event every Spring and Fall and there are so many great quilts to see and also fantastic prizes to be won.
The quilt I am showing for the festival is a 22″x 22″ mini I created for Fab Little Quilt Swap. I had such a BLAST making this quilt. I love participating in mini swaps because I am always inspired by my partner to try something new. Also, because of the small scale, I can add lots of little details and try new techniques.
My partner, Kim, likes bright colors, flying geese and circles. She is also a fan of “Wizard of Oz”, so I added in touches to reflect that:
This quote makes me so happy that I may need to make another mini for my house!
I FMQ’d a “yellow brick road” around the perimeter and poppies in the corners.
The sepia background fabrics (Preeti by Jessica Swift) were a perfect contrast to the rainbow of technicolor, just like the Kansas scenes in “Wizard of Oz”
The label on the back is the beginning of the yellow brick road.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the festival!
