November Update

I’m still here…on the couch…with the baby asleep on me, or nursing.  SOMEDAY I will get back to sewing, but until then, I can dream! And thank God I can use my laptop to read tons of marvelous blogs by fabulous quilters and peruse Etsy for new fabrics while Liam sleeps on me.

I did do a swap last month, which was why I made the venture downtown to Michael Levine. It was through a group called “A Little Fabric, a Little Chocolate” on Flickr and we traded two of my favorite things (can you guess what they were?

Here was what I sent to my partner.  She loves dots, so I got her a couple of the dotted fabrics from Amy Butler’s new “Love” line.  I also sent her some Heather Ross and Jay McCarroll fabrics (I also bought some for myself, of course!).

My partner was very generous and sent me some yummy vintage bed linens along with adorable Japanese prints.  She made the wallet and the brooch!

I wanted to make her something, but I really have zero time. I am trying to figure out what I can sew while the baby sleeps on me and nurses.  I considered English Paper Piecing, but I would still have to be able to cut the pieces.  Maybe in a few more weeks.

My hubby purchased some “Figgy pudding”  fabrics for me and I really want to make this quilt using them:

Quilt Made by “Mary on Lake Pulaski

The pattern is called “Geese in the Forest” and was designed by Anina at Twiddletails.  She was inspired by a quilt from the Tokyo International Quilt Festival.

I did a layout in photoshop, so I could get an idea of what it would look like and how I should lay out the fabrics.

The entire quilt is pieced using freezer paper!  Needless to say, my goal is to have it done by NEXT Christmas.

  1. Hello! Do you happen to have any of Moda’s Figgy Pudding fabric left over? I’m working on recreating a quilt for my husband, and I’m missing one kind of fabric – the Christmas tree Figgy Pudding Fabric. Do you happen to have any leftovers of this?

    Warmly,
    Michelle
